Emerging technology companies to be honored at 10th annual TechFW IMPACT Award

FORT WORTH, TX. – The 10th annual TechFW IMPACT Awards luncheon, which recognizes and celebrates the global impact of emerging technologies in North Texas, will be Tuesday October 9, 2018 at Texas Christian University’s Brown Lupton University Union.

The presenting sponsor is Comerica Bank.

The recognition luncheon is a celebration of clients and graduates of TechFW programs, and portfolio companies of Cowtown Angels, a program of TechFW that brings together independent angel investors and early-stage companies needing capital. In addition, 2018 is the 20-year anniversary of TechFW’s formation.

Three emerging technology companies will be recognized based on the TechFW board’s belief that they have the potential to impact our world. The three:

NuvoThera –A consumer healthcare company with a mission to develop novel over-the-counter products for difficult-to-treat skin diseases. Its first product to market is Prosoria, the first once-daily, three-step psoriasis treatment system clinically proven to relieve psoriasis symptoms, including scaling, flaking, itching and redness, and to help prevent recurrences. Art Clapp is the chief executive officer.

The Block Center –Its approach is to look for and treat the underlying causes of health problems such as ADHD, autism, anxiety, PMS, ear infections, asthma and more in children and adults instead of masking the symptoms with drugs. The centerpiece of the treatments is the patented Clarity Chair and its two-hour daily treatment session for five consecutive days. Dr. Mary Ann Block is the founder.

SolGro – SolGro has developed a greenhouse material to convert sunlight into the best colors to grow plants. The company’s process converts unused and harmful color bands into red and blue. SolGro’s technology has increased some crop yields up to 300 percent. CEO Tyler Sickels founded the company while a student at the University of Texas at Arlington.

“Because TechFW is at the forefront of the area’s growing technology ecosystem, it likes to recognize its clients that already are achieving measurable success,” said TechFW Executive Director Darlene Boudreaux. “These entrepreneurs being recognized and those that were featured at the IMPACT Showcase in June are working to better our world. The opportunity to shine this spotlight on them is gratifying.”

As part of its 20-year celebration, TechFW will recognize key individuals during the luncheon that helped lay the foundation for TechFW and grow its economic impact. The recipients of the 2018 Legacy Awards are former Mayor Kenneth Barr, Assistant City Manager Jay Chapa, and Jerry Cagle, former Vice President of Research and Development at Alcon.

The IMPACT luncheon also will include a panel of past honorees who will be sharing an insider’s look at what they have achieved and what it has taken to get there. The panelists are Elyse Dickerson of Eosera, Andrew Feghali of Aeroblaze Laboratory, Edward Morgan of Revitalize Charging Solutions and Russ Campbell of Ampcare.

Luncheon registration begins at 11 a.m. and the ceremony begins at 11:30.

In addition to Comerica Bank, sponsors include the University of North Texas Health Science Center, the University of Texas at Arlington, City of Fort Worth, Fort Worth Business Press, Lockheed Martin, Whitley Penn, Tarleton State University, Smith & Nephew, Sabre, Southwest Bank and the Neeley School of Business at Texas Christian University.
