Tech Fort Worth, the business incubator and assistance organization, was named the Tech Titans Technology Advocate for 2011 by the Metroplex Technology Business Council.

One of the center’s clients, Encore Vision, won the group’s Emerging Company Horizon Award.

The Technology Advocate award “recognizes a technology service provider for outstanding leadership in the community by assisting, enabling or accelerating the performance of its technology clients,” the council said. Besides providing startup support, Tech Fort Worth helps companies commercialize their technologies.

There was a pretty good chance that one of Tech Fort Worth’s clients would win the Horizon Award. Three of the four nominees were clients, said Tech Fort Worth’s executive director, Darlene Ryan. “We feel truly successful when the companies who choose to work with us achieve their goals,” Ryan said.

The other Tech Fort Worth clients nominated were ZS Pharma of Fort Worth, which is developing a drug to treat liver and kidney disorders, and Resonant Sensors, a maker of biological testing systems now based in Houston. The fourth was ShopSavvy, a Dallas smartphone app developer.
