Electronics technology provider BAP Image Systems already had a large customer base in both Europe and the United States before the company made a smart move two years ago to Fort Worth.

Since then, the company has successfully expanded its customer base throughout the U.S., developed new markets for its technologies, and increased its global revenue.

To date, BAP Image Systems (BAPis) has revenue of $2 million with an end-of-fiscal-year forecast of $2.5 million, according to founder and CEO Peter Bonk.

Bonk launched BAPis11 years ago in Erlangen, Germany, a city of about 100,000 residents near Nuremberg. The high-tech solutions company, which develops hardware and software for data capture and processing, also operates a research facility in Poland.

But the company’s future growth will be primarily in the U.S., according to Bonk. BAP is is an acceleration
client at TECH Fort Worth, a nonprofit business incubator that is providing consulting and development assistance as the German company expands its imaging services nationwide.

“The U.S. economy is driving this. I saw many advantages moving here,” said Bonk. “We chose Fort Worth because of its central location. The American location has very organized manufacturing and good prices for our products. We have the capacity to manufacture a lot of products and delivery time is shorter from here. We wanted the opportunity to work with a business incubator and we found this here. TECH Fort Worth has helped us to quickly learn the nuances of operating a business in this country.”
